3. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that is stored in the hard drive of the computer or mobile device until the expiration date set in the cookie and is activated by later visits (it sends feedback to the web server). Websites use cookies to record information related to the visit (visited websites, time spent on websites, browser data, logouts, etc.) and personal settings. This tool helps to establish a user-friendly webpage to enhance the online experience of users.

Cookies are categorized based on their date, function and origin as below:

3.1. Session and persistent cookies

Based on their expiration date cookies have two categories: “session cookies” and “persistent cookies”.

A “Session cookies” (session cookie) are only stored on the notebook or mobile device temporarily, until you leave the website; these cookies help the system remember some information ,so you do not have to  repeatedly give or enter your information. Validity of session cookies only limited to the user’s current session, their purpose is to prevent data loss (ie. while filling a longer form). After the sessions or closing the browser, these cookies are automatically deleted from the user’s computer.

“Persistent cookies” are stored on the computer, notebook or mobile device after leaving the website.  With the help of these cookies the website recognizes you as a returning visitor. In every case where user verification is essential – ie. webshops, NetBank, webmail – they are necessary for proper functionality. Persistent cookies do not store personal data in themselves, and they are only capable for user identification with the association stored in the server database. You can find the expiration date of the cookies in the cookie description.

3.2. Own and third-party cookies

If our web server installs the cookie to your device, it is our own cookie, but if the source of the cookie is a code weaved into the website by an external service (ie. Google), it is a third-party cookie.

3.3. Necessary, statistical and marketing cookies

A “necessary cookie” ensures functions essential to the website operation, such as form filling guides, etc… Because the website cannot operate without the cookie, your permission is not required.

A “statistical cookie” collects statistical data about how visitors use the website, what contents they read, what they click on, how they scroll the website. From this we gain information about ie. which articles have most views. These cookies are not essential, so your permission is required to use them.

The purpose of a “marketing cookie” is to show targeted, personalized advertisements for you in various advertising spaces (ie. Google). To do this, the cookie analyses how you view the website, the visit’s location, it records the number of visits, watched videos, etc.

Find the function of the cookies in the description.

4. What kind of cookies do we use?

Legal basis of data privacy: According to 2001. CVIII. law 13/A. § (3) paragraph about the electronic commercial services and certain aspects of information society services, it is our legal concern to the proper functionality of the website.
